Demetrius Lee is one of the most talented young dancers in Ohio. He is very dedicated, hard-working, passionate about dance, and about life. He is also one of the kindest, sweetest young men you’ll ever meet. Demetrius just completed eighth grade at the Cleveland School of the Arts, while at the same time training at Tri-C's Creative Arts Academy, under the tutelage of Terence Greene and Kay Eichman. He is currently attending the Dance Summer Intensive camp at Tri-C Academy.
At the tender age of 13, he has already attracted the attention of major dance institutions, and is on the verge of making a great start in the world of dance. This past year Demetrius choreographed his first ballet for his eighth-grade class, and performed for the entire school. He also danced in two plays at Cleveland’s Karamu House: "Coming of the Kings”, and "God’s Trombone". Demetrius went to the International Association Blacks in Dance conference (IABD) in Denver Colorado, and made a big splash: he was awarded six full scholarships to prestigious summer camps: the Atlanta Connections, Deeply Rooted, Cleo Parker Robinson, Houston Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and Joffrey Ballet. Receiving even one of these is a great result. Getting six offers is true evidence of his uncommon talent getting noticed at the highest level. Demetrius’ dream is to go to New York City at the end of July, to attend the three-week-long Joffrey Ballet Summer Intensive camp. Here is where Demetrius and his family need your help and generosity. Even though the entire tuition amount, registration and performance fees (total of $2000) was waived, Demetrius would still have to pay for his trip, a chaperone (after all, he is only 13!), meals, and dormitory. This is the opportunity of a lifetime. Demetrius is trying to raise $1800 to cover all expenses. He does not come from a rich family, and without your help, he would end up missing out on this great opportunity. His family and friends are very proud of him, and are already trying to raise funds in every way possible. Please, help this great young artist with your generous donation today! On behalf of Demetrius, his mentors, family, and friends, thank you!
