Hello friends,
On July 13th (10 days from this initial post), my sweet best friend Courtney is having open heart surgery at OHSU to replace at least one valve and to check in on another valve that is leaking so that they can make an informed decision about when to replace or repair that one. The surgery will take 6+ish hours and Courtney will be spending the following week or two in ICU.
Insurance has been a struggle but they finally seem to have a solution in that area that will cover most of it. However, their family could really use some financial support and love at this time to help with expenses during her recovery.
The bulk of recovery is expected to take 6-8ish weeks. It will be trying, especially since Taylor works long hours and several overnights and they have the lovliest (and wiggliest) 8 month old Noah wanting to be held by his mama and scooting around the house like crazy.
Any amount that you can afford to donate is greatly appreciated and will help take the huge burden of worry off our friends.
I set the amount to $5k to help them with expenses for the next few months like rent, groceries, making sure their car runs well (they have been having some trouble with it lately), and gas/hotel for the trips to OHSU but I also wanted to set it high enough that they will be able to afford any fees/taxes associated with receiving donations. The goal here is to take any monetary pressure off their family completely so that they can focus on recovery and managing their stress. We all know how difficult that can be, and I'm so sincerely thankful that we have an amazing community of family and friends to help each other out when needed.
