I need to get top surgery, a gender affirming surgery, but my insurance provider denied my request for coverage. Ive felt an overwhelming discomfort with my chest as long as I can remember. Since I was 12 Ive been binding my chest all day, every day, to ease this emotional discomfort, but over time its taken a toll on my body. I experience chronic pain in my back, neck, shoulders, and ribs, and binding exacerbates this pain. I havent been able to bind my chest comfortably in months and because of this my gender dysphoria has taken an even greater toll on my mental health, to the point where it affects my self worth, happiness, and my outlook on life. Ive dreamt of getting top surgery since I was 12 and I need it now more than ever. Just because my insurance provider doesnt consider it a medically necessary surgery doesnt mean this procedure wouldnt be life saving. I understand financial support can be difficult to provide, especially in times like these when our government provides us so little support, and I appreciate every dollar donated. Im so grateful for the people in my life who show up for me and I really deeply appreciate every person who takes the time to read, share, and make a donation. All the funds will go toward paying for my surgery, hospital fees and aftercare supplies to ensure that my recovery process is as comfortable as possible. Thank you thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart.
