Dear Friends and Family,

We are sad to update that Rachel's Journey ended on the evening of September 27th, 2025. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family. Funeral Services will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Cheyenne, on Thursday, October 2nd, at 11:00 am.

We want to thank all those who have contributed and supported us during this difficult time. The GoFundMe will remain open for all of those who are considering contributing.

We come to you with heavy hearts to ask for your support for an extraordinary young woman and her loving parents. Rachel, adopted at age 2 and is now at just 23 years old, has chosen hospice care after a lifelong journey with a rare metabolic disorder called Lysinuric Protein Intolerance. Despite all her time spent in hospitals and doctors’ appointments, she has grown into a fierce, funny, and deeply compassionate soul. This girl lights up every room with her spunk and sass. Despite her strength, the medications that once helped manage her condition are no longer effective, which has led to irreversible liver damage, and she is not a candidate for a transplant.

Just last month, doctors estimated Rachel had 2-4 years to live. Tragically, this past Sunday, her prognosis shifted dramatically – her time with us has now been reduced to days. Through it all, Rachel remains in charge (would we expect anything less?) making decisions, sharing laughter, directing anyone and everyone she’s allowing in during her last days here on earth, while continuing to care for those around her. True to who she is, she’s even helping plan her own celebration of life, ensuring that it reflects the joy and light she brings to everyone she meets. “Please don’t you dare wear black, my favorite colors are yellow and blue, this can’t be sad and dark, it’s going to be bright and light”

Her beyond brave parents have been by her side every moment, day in and day out, navigating unimaginable heartbreak with strength and grace. As you can imagine, this sudden turn has brought with it unexpected financial and emotional burdens.

We are raising funds to help relive some of this burden – so they can continue to be present with Rachel without the added stress of financial strain. Our donation will cover:

• Out-of-pocket medical and hospice expenses

• Resources to ensure Rachel’s comfort and dignity

• Support for the celebration of life
