Rachel Dennett: Breast Cancer Fight

Donation protected
Many of you already know my mom and her story. For those of you who haven't heard yet, I hope this will help.

On May 18, 2016, my mom, Rachel Parker Dennett, was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. She found the lump on her own one night and decided it was a good idea to go to the doctor. Had she not pushed for a second opinion, we would be here thinking nothing was wrong. After an ultrasound and a biopsy, it was confirmed she had breast cancer. We talked to the doctor and two days later mom was at the hospital having her chemo port put in. It was a very difficult and painful procedure for her.

We discussed with the oncologist the perfect plan to have mom on the road to recovery. Dr. Jayaram decided that chemo before surgery would be best. Rachel will have 6 months of chemotherapy (16 treatments). The first 4 treatments are three weeks apart. When the first 4 treatments are completed, she will have an ultrasound to check the size of the cancer. After that, she will then start treatments every week for 12 weeks. Her first chemo was on June 3, 2016 and her second chemo was on June 24, 2016.  She has only completed two treatments, but her next one will be on July 15, 2016. Each treatment is hard on mom. She gets very nauseated and is weak for over a week. After all of her chemo treatments are complete, we will talk with the surgeon about what her options will be for surgery.

Dr. Jayaram, Rachel's oncologist, suggested she have a genetic blood test done. We waited 5 longs weeks for the results, which came back negative. What a blessing from God!! This gives mom more options for surgery.

Whatever amount of money that is raised here will be used towards the expenses of doctor bills. Some money has been raised already thanks to her coworkers at Dixon High School as well as The Reel Housewives Of Topsail Island, thank you ladies as well as Pastor Steve Allen for sharing mom's story. We would also like to thank Sneads Ferry Original Free Will Baptist Church for the generous donation. Everything that has been raised is greatly appreciated as well as it is a blessing!! It has been a big help already, however, each chemo therapy treatment is $10,000 and I am unsure at this time how much her insurance will cover.

I cannot express how much this will mean to my mom, my family, and I. However, my mom does not know that I have created this account as she is shy and feels like she shouldn't ask for help. I only ask that you give if you feel in your heart that you can. If you can't, then my biggest request is that you just pray and keep praying. This will be a long and tough journey for her, but she is strong and she has said she is ready to beat this.

I want to thank everyone for taking the time to read my mom's story. We love all the support she already has! Most of all we love our biggest supporter, God! He holds my mom in His hands, as He is he Master and Creator of all things great and small. We know He will hear our prayers and heal her. We have all the Faith in the world that God has all the Power and Glory to lead mom to a bright future of being cancer free!
