Mike Medlin's Medical Mission

Mike Medlin, an incredible 49 year old husband and father, collasped Thursday morning, June 23rd, and was rushed to the hospital in Huntsville, Alabama. The doctors determined that he was in liver and kidney failure caused by an antibody mediated hemolysis. It is unknown why these antibodies are there and breaking down his red blood cells and causing the liver and kidney failure. Mike has undergone numerous tests, biopsies and even more treatments including blood transfusions, dialysis, plasmaphresis and most recently an infusion. He is currently being treated by the excellent doctors and nurses at Huntsville Hospital.

Mike has had a couple of victories this week. His liver has returned to normal and the bone marrow biopsy came back negative for cancer. Answered prayers, but so many more are needed.

Prayer warriors, please pray for the doctors as they work tirelessly to determine the cause of the antibodies and resolve the kidney failure. Please pray for Mike, Melissa and Taylor. Mike is a loving son, son-in-law, husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and dear friend to so many! He is a kind soul who does so much for his family and friends. The outpouring of support has been such a testament to the love and support for Mike and the family.

Mike is an amazingly strong and faithful man. There is an unimaginable road ahead of him with more tests and treatments, but we know Mike will continue to fight the good fight.
