Many don't realize the true sacrifice of a woman, they literally risk their lives to give birth to a child... before, during and after birth. Our beloved Takeia McAlister and fiance Jason Arana welcomed Aria Jae Arana into the world by C-section on June 15, 2016. On Monday, June 27, 2016, less than a week after coming home with their new bundle of joy, without warning Takeia suffered Post Partum Pre-eclampsia which led to a brain aneurysm /stroke and an induced coma.
A very rare and severe condition, postpartum pre-eclampsia occurs when a woman has high blood pressure and excess protein in her urine soon after childbirth. Many women show very little symptoms of this condition and without warning it can cause seizures, strokes, clotting and damage to vital organs including the brain and lungs. This condition is predominant in African American women.
As of July 3 , 2016 Takeia is now stable but still in the intensive care unit (ICU) and will be there for a bit longer with fiance Jason, mother Jennifer and sister Twanda continually by her side.
Although we know God has the final say, anyone that knows, briefly met or heard of Takeia knows that she has a loving free-spirit of a true warrior and a heart of gold; fom her work at Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, running the St. Lukes Life Works Toy Drive and current role as the Associate Marketing Director at the Greenwich Boys and Girls Club, Takeia is a natural born giver.
Takeia has always put others before herself, attended everyone's events, babysat, been a shoulder to cry on and worked very hard at her job to make sure things were executed flawlessly.
She is a phenomenal friend to many, mom, daughter, sister, fiance, and most importantly a child of God.
When the news broke of Takeia's condition, so many people reached out to her family and friends giving them encouraging words of prayer because they know Takeia is such a genuine, giving, compassionate and fiery soul.
Theorefore we have created this GoFund me page to assist her and her family during this time.
Blessings,
Friends- Denise and Tori, on loving behalf of her family
