Help Doug Chard fight liver disease

Our father, Doug Chard, is in the battle of his life and he needs your help. For the past five years, Doug has battled liver disease and increasing complications with diabetes. The past two years in particular have been been very difficult, full of hospital stays and declining health in which we almost seriously lost him twice. Despite all that, Dad has not given up and neither has our mother, Susana. The cost of their determination, however, has become a burden on its own.

If you are reading this now, most likely you have met or know Doug and Susy personally. You must know then that they have always been stalwart examples of facing challenges with hope and persistence. As their children, we can attest that they have lived their lives in the service of others. Over time this outward focus has made them less likely to seek help when they need it. To that end, they have spent much of their retirement toward hospital bills and medications all in the hope of being prepared and getting Doug a new liver when he qualifies.

As a family, we have worked together to sacrifice and try to help meet the needs of our father, but the cost is growing difficult to bear. We are seeking your help. Our parents are unaware of this fund, but we have decided to bring it to your attention because we know that there are many who have asked over the years how to help ease Doug and Susy's burdens. We also know that any monetary donation you can offer now will not only help to lessen the worries that come with steep medical costs but also show our parents how loved they really are. Even if we don't come close to our goal, every contribution will matter.
