This past February 2015, my family took another hard hit. I guess we were naïve, thinking ourselves safe after Ryan, my boyfriend of nearly five years beating Testicular Cancer and Gloria, my mother, being stable and relatively healthy, albeit still fighting Stage IV Breast Cancer.

My name is Maria and I have Breast Cancer. I was diagnosed at the age of 33 and have completed (2) courses of Chemotherapy Treatment and (36) Radiation Treatments.

Throughout all of our experiences, my family and I have been blessed with help in some very unexpected places.

Clancy, from Critters for the Cure, helped us get our two black labradors vet checkups they were in dire need of that, unfortunately, had to take a backseat after learning of my diagnosis, until I got in touch with that God sent angel of a lady.

My social worker, Jessica, from Union Memorial Hospital has been instrumental in helping me find some programs to help not only keep spirits up with make-up tutorial sessions and networking functions, but connecting me with people to reach out to and find some comfort and support.

Not to mention everyone that has messaged, called, emailed, sent care packages, texted, visited and prayed! (Beth Fox and Teresa Smith, I am forever in your debt.) During the most frightful time of my life I must give a lot of credit to the excellent people I love- which is every person I keep in touch with via social media. I keep you all close to my heart for a reason and want to thank you for your undying support for as long as I've known you.

The company I was working for continued to pay me vacation pay and sick leave to help supplement my income, of which I hadn't even been there long enough to earn. However, given the circumstances and their need of coverage for my position, I was let go in July. While I'd love to go back to that company, they have no room for me to return.

So, in the interim of starting over and finding a new job, I've become one of the newest Uber Partners in hopes of being able to catchup on the bills that have fallen behind since our suddenly becoming a single income family.

That is why I've started this page. The doctor's visits, follow-ups, surgeries, tests, treatments and all of the hullabaloo that goes with it (gas.) have accumulated to a mountain of overwhelm that I can't imagine being able to overcome.

Although I've finished treatment, I must wait until I've healed from radiation before I have my next mammogram and subsequently have the final surgery of the port removal from my chest. HUZZAH!!

Thank you for listening to my story. Every consideration is more than appreciated!
