Hello! My name is Kerrhia Hilaire, and I'm a filmmaker who believes stories can break the silences that destroy families.

I'm raising funds for "Forgive", a short film about Jobina, a young woman who watches her uncle begin targeting her teenage cousin—the same way he once abused her and her late sister. Set during one suffocating night before a family funeral, Jobina must choose: continue the cycle of silence that killed her sister, or become the disruption her family has always refused to acknowledge.

This isn't just a student film; it's a conversation starter about how families protect abusers, how faith gets weaponized to demand forgiveness, and what happens when staying quiet becomes more dangerous than speaking up.

With your support, we'll create a film that gives voice to survivors who've been told to forgive and forget, and prove that some truths are too important to stay buried.

The Impact : Why This Matters

For Survivors: According to RAINN, 1 in 6 women and 1 in 33 men experience sexual abuse or assault. Most know their abuser. Most are told, in one way or another, to keep quiet. This film says: your truth matters, even when your family doesn't want to hear it.

For Families: This isn't about vilifying families, it's about showing how good people can enable terrible things when protecting comfort becomes more important than protecting the vulnerable. It's a mirror that asks: who are we protecting, and at what cost?

For Faith Communities: Religion can be a source of profound healing, but when "forgive and forget" becomes a weapon to silence victims, faith becomes complicit in harm. This film challenges religious communities to do better.

For Black Audiences: We rarely see Black families dealing with sexual abuse on screen without it being reduced to trauma porn or "issue of the week" content. "Forgive" treats this family with complexity, humanity, and respect. These are whole people, not just vessels for pain.

If you've ever been told to "let it go" or "keep the peace" when you knew something was deeply wrong, this film is for you. And if you haven't, it's a window into why silence is never as simple as it seems.
