Matthew and Margarets Journey
This page is for my Aunty Margaret Cox (nee Rapley), her Husband Andrew and their three young boys. Margaret is fighting stage 4 breast cancer and has been for the past 6 years after originally being given only 3 months to live. As if a mother fighting for her life is not hard enough on a family, Margaret and Andrew’s twin 12 year old boys also suffer disabilities. Matthew was diagnosed with severe autism at age 2 and Jacob suffers with childhood epilepsy. With Margaret being in and out of hospital and the around the clock care Matthew requires, Andrew has made the decision to remain at home fulltime to care for his family. She has been hospitalised this year alone for an operation on her leg for bone deterioration, with mouth ulcers and high temperatures, with blood pressure problems and infections. Matthew is a wonderful little boy with a heart of gold and through persistence, and unconditional love, Margaret and Andrew have made amazing progress on his stimming. Irrespective of all that is going on in her life she was still able to help support two of her sisters with their own battles with breast cancer. Sadly one lost their fight with this terrible disease in September 2013.
Margaret has a loving family and support system and is one of the strongest, kindest and most selfless people not only that I know but I would argue on the planet. She is in the process of writing a book to share her family’s story and hopefully help others who are sharing similar struggles.
Which brings us to the reason for this GoFundMe page. Hospital treatments, doctors expenses and medical care for both Margaret and Matthew has become a very heavy burden on the family and I would like to try and help take some of this financial pressure off her and her family, any help no matter how small would be greatly appreciated.
