Hello dear friends and neighbors. 2015-2016 have been difficult years for us. Kathryn has been out of work for three years. During that time she had two hip replacements. Kathryn continued to look for work in her field of technical editing and has had a couple very short contracts as well as a short time as a personal assistant. Nothing lasted.
Mac is disabled and is unable to work but he has been working hard to build a nascent photography business. It is slow going but he is proud of it. (http://www.pocketlama.net ) He also has a Cafepress store to bring in a few extra dollars.
Now we find ourselves at the very, very end of our funds. Mac gets a small stipend from his disability check but beside that we are at or just under $1000 to our name AND we are now officially homeless.
Because we have nothing with which to pay our rent we are having to move out of our beautiful house in Seatac and we are moving to live in my mother's basement until we can get on our feet again. Kathryn is going to change her approach to job hunting from searching for technical editing and will nearly take anything she can get. That means blue collar work almost certainly.
Housing in Spokane is MUCH cheaper than here in the Puget Sound area so we are confident that we can find an apartment for a very low price. The issue, and why we are asking for your help, is that we will find it difficult to rent a proper place while Kathryn is looking for work. My mother's basement is temporary and we need to find a new place a.s.a.p.
We will use these funds to provide extra help to pay for the move and for deposits and such. But also, any money we get will go to subsidizing our rent for a month or two. Mac's SSDI check will pay for rent in a small apartment but we need help paying our bills until Kathryn gets that job.
Look, we know everyone is having difficulties these days. It's a hard time for a lot of people. We are just at the very end of our rope and would be sleeping in our car if my mother hadn't offered temporary help. Your monetary help will keep us afloat until Kathryn gets a job, surely within a month or two.
