For our baby, Winston

Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Aubrey and my husband Jerel and I own our Corgi named Winston. We got him as a puppy 5 years ago and love him like he’s our own son.
Last week on April 4th we noticed that he was pooping out blood, his gums kept bleeding and the white around his left eye was looking bloody. We monitored him and ended up getting him an appointment right away on Easter. We were told that he had some type of head trauma but had no idea how that could’ve happened. We were then sent home with an antibiotic and a low dose steroids.
2 days passed and Winston started to feel “better”, as so we thought. On the evening of April 7th I found him in our bedroom floor lethargic. He wasn’t reacting to treats, running around to see if he was going to chase me or even squeezing his favorite toys. At this point Jerel and I were very much concerned. He was walking so slow and would slump his body on the floor. Jerel also flipped him over and found bruising all over his belly.

Jerel took him to the closest pet emergency right away and waited for the initial assessment.
The Vet said that Winston was very lethargic and with all the observations, assessments and info we gave them ; he was indeed losing lots of blood.
They then admitted him to their hospital and started diagnostic tests. His red blood cells and platelet count was really low. They diagnosed him with an auto immune platelet disorder where his body was attacking his own cells. The continuous bleeding was because his platelets were not clotting in the areas it was supposed to.

A day passed and his labs went up to an okay range but only because they started him on a strong immunosuppressant, steroid and IV fluids. They started to draw his blood often to keep an eye on his numbers but then
Thursday evening his blood cells dropped again. We got a call early morning that they started a blood transfusion which he tolerated. They drew more diagnostic tests and stated that his numbers went up to a steady range which they want to keep an eye on for another 24 hours.

Jerel and I already spent a couple thousand out of pocket for the 2 days of hospital stay with treatment.

So with that, we’re asking for help whether if it’s a prayer or any amount of money. We are grateful for anything.
We just want our baby home healthy and his old self again.

The money raised here will go only to Winston’s medical bills which will cover his treatments, medications, diagnostic testings, current hospital stay and future routine visits. For this will most likely be a long term situation for him.
We will definitely update this page as much as possible to let you know how he’s doing and what else is being performed to help him.

We thank you so much and again, please pray for our boy
