Road Construction Worker Hit By Car
Donation protected
On June 28, 2016, Robert Tyler, 53, was at work with Midwest Paving Company when a car left the road striking him from behind. Robert lives in New Castle, IN with his fiancé Michelle and was working on a road crew in Lafayette. Robert was flown by medical helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He had significant internal bleeding and the trauma surgeons removed his spleen this afternoon. He will undergo surgery again in a few days to take another look at his intestines to be sure there was no injury they were not able to see during the surgery today. Robert also has a small bleed in his brain that doctors are watching. It is unknown, at this time, the extent of any neurological complications resulting from the injury to his brain. Additionally, he has a fracture of his 7th cervical vertebra, fractured ribs, left hip, left lower leg, and right wrist.Michelle is staying by his side. The next few days will be critical and as he recovers I expect there will be months of rehabilitation. Michelle and Robert were planning on getting married this fall. I am starting this campaign to help Robert and Michelle with any expenses related to his hospitalization including any expenses not covered by insurance, travel, lodging, and food expenses for Robert's fiancé and family, and general living expenses they will continue to have while Robert is healing and while Michelle is staying at the hospital during this critical time.Michelle and his family appreciate all the prayers lifted up.
