I am asking for your support, compassion, love and contribution for my father, Dastan Sarygulov, who was imprisoned on June 12th in Kyrgyzstan. All the proceeds will go to pay for his attorney to free my dad.
My father is 70 years old and was already in poor health prior to his arrest. Now he is subject to significant human rights violations, mistreatment, and abuse at the hands of the authorities in Bishkek. I fear his health is rapidly deteriorating and he will not survive many more weeks in prison.
He is not allowed access to his attorney. He is not allowed any visitors or outside communication. Furthermore, he has been described as gaunt and ill, refusing food and lethargic due to suspected forced drug injections. Kyrgyzstan's prisons are rife with cases of torture and physical abuse.
My father's imprisonment has occurred during a disturbing political context; the government has arrested many critics for simply expressing their opinions. Human rights advocates, labor leaders, and ordinary citizens have been detained and imprisoned. My father expressed his views on the current political regime, as it is his constitutional right, but freedom of speech and expression is not looked upon favorably in Kyrgyzstan and he was falsely accused and arrested.
I am a US citizen and have lived in NYC since 1997. I am asking for your help in any way you may be able to provide it. I am terrified that my father --my 13-year-old daughter's grandfather-- will die in prison without immediate advocacy and intervention.
Thank you very much for your kindness and support! Thank you for lending a hand in saving a person's life. Your help in very much appreciated.
