Help Amy

Our daughter-in-law, Amy, found out recently that she has Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Again. Many of us will never be diagnosed with cancer, and Amy has been diagnosed and declared cancer-free two times already in her young life. She was first diagnosed in 2004, went through chemotherapy, and was pronounced free of cancer in 2006. Amy went nearly ten years before being diagnosed with cancer, though found out in 2015 that it was back. We celebrated her freedom from cancer the second time in the spring of 2017. And now she is battling the disease for the third time. Cancer truly sucks.

Amy started feeling off very early this year. Initially, she thought it was due to her lupus, though she realized by late winter that something more was going on.  She has seen her oncologist and rheumatologist many times in the past several weeks, in addition to other specialists, all working to get to the bottom of her health issues. It turns out that on top of the return of cancer, she is suffering some fairly major effects of her lupus. Amy has endured numerous scans and blood tests, and the stress of waiting for the results time and time again. All of the doctors working with Amy are confident that the treatment plan they have suggested will help beat the cancer and reduce her pain and discomfort. Amy has been experiencing so many emotions during this process, and although she is already feeling tired and beaten down, she plans to give it her all to fight the effects of these diseases, and do what she can to beat the cancer. Again.

Amy and Kyle have health insurance, though their out of pocket cost is ridiculously high, and they are struggling to pay the medical bills that have already stacked up since her recent diagnosis. The good news: Amy has hit her insurance cap for the year. The bad news: that cap is $4,000. She is feeling very worried about finances right now, especially since she is not able to work regularly due to her medical appointments, follow-up treatments, and chemotherapy.

All of you have been asking our family what you can do to help. Well, here's a very simple yet amazing way you can provide help and reduce Amy's stress: Make a donation. Whatever you can afford. Please. And pass this information on to others so they can contribute, too.  Our goal is to raise at least $4,000, though we are hoping to raise even more since we know there will be other expenses that come up along the way. With your support, Amy can focus her energy on fighting the disease rather than stressing about how she and Kyle will pay the bills. We appreciate any and all donations, no matter what size. Your contribution will help Amy beat this damn disease. Again.
