Debs Hit and Run Auto Accident

Donation protected
On June 4th 2016 Debbie was at a red light waiting for it to turn green. She proceeded into the intersection when the light turned green and at the same time a drunk driver ran the red turn signal into her path and hit her head on. Totaled an all wheel drive Ford Expedition.

Driver of the at fault vehicle fled the scene, leaving his bleeding girlfriend in his passenger seat and of course Debbie both at the scene. Both were transported to Venice Regional Hospital.

Debs injuries slowly revealed themselves after a couple of days. What we thought was going to be a week or two of restful healing has turned into a nightmare. Two of her teeth were initially knocked out and within days another broke off. Xrays at the dentist showed there were two more that were cracked and about to break. We got a second opinion from LECOM in lakewood ranch who discovered that her jaw was actually fractured and dislocated. Additionally she has cervical and lower spine injuries as well as a concussion. PTSD was also diagnosed.

It is painful for me to watch Debbie have to cover her mouth to smile and try to eat, so I cannot imagine how it must feel to her.

At this point in time the PIP has been exausted and so has our savings. The attorney and insurance company will battle it out, but in the mean time Deb has missing teeth and a fractured dislocated jaw that needs to be taken care of now. The funds are not there to get her the care she needs. The attorneys are working on finding a Dentist that will accept a Letter of Protection that will essentially guarantee they get paid when the at fault insurance carrier settles.

I would have never imagined that a automibile accident could change the course of ones life so drastically. We own and run a Water Taxi business together and one half, Debbie, is missing. It takes two . We also do some boat transporting which depended on our Expedion to be the boat hauler. With the money the insurance paid we were not able to equal the vehicle we had. Tons of missed business opportunities due to the vehicle loss.

I am pretty sure that the attorney will settle down the road and we will get some compensation, but that is going to be a while. The recovery time for the jaw surgery can be six months. After that the dental work is another 6 month process not to mention the neck and lower back problems. No settlement will be made until all the medical has been performed and Deb has reached maximum medical improvement.

Debbie cannot wait, she needs to get started on her treatment. Our savings and insurance coverage has run out.

Someone mentioned this site and I decided to check it out. It is hard to do this, kinda hurts my pride. We are not asking for a handout. When the insurance settles we would gladly get all the donations back. I am not sure if the site tells who donates, but you can notify us by email: [email redacted].

Here goes...any help will certainly be appreciated. The estimate on her teeth is $10500 and the surgery for her jaw somewhere around $30000, thus the 45k goal.

Thanks so much in advance,

Debbie and Charlie
