My sister, Lidia, was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 rectal cancer. While the diagnosis feels surreal, she remains strong and ready to face treatment head-on.

In the coming weeks, Lidia will begin radiation with the goal of shrinking the tumor. About a month later, her doctors will assess the response. If radiation is not effective, she will undergo chemotherapy for four to six months, followed by surgery.

Lidia is continuing to work for as long as she is physically able. As treatment begins and progresses, it may become difficult for her to continue working at the same capacity. As many people know, cancer treatment affects more than just health and can bring added financial strain during an already challenging time.

This GoFundMe was created to help with expenses related to her treatment, including lost income, travel to and from medical appointments, rent and basic living expenses, and ongoing day-to-day costs.
