Aftermath of the Fire

Donation protected

Some of you already know that a week and a half ago, our home was consumed and destroyed by a fire. Everyone made it out alive, but my mom’s spirit has been crushed. I’ve never seen her this low. It was truly traumatic and devastating for all of us.

Our family has been forced to separate. Some have had to couch hop with distant friends, while my mom has been sleeping in her car. I was going to go back home for my birthday, but I no longer have a home to go back to.

I have been numb to the situation and have tried to ignore it, but I can’t do that. I gotta get up.

My Mother is a Black Womxn, a Single Mother of Four, and a Double Essential Worker (Construction Worker in the day, Post Office Worker at Night).

She’s jumped in front of all kinds of bullets for me, some I cant even fathom.
Believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself.
Sacrificed so much to make my dreams come true.

All without complaint.

She is a Hero.

But sometimes even the strongest of heroes need help.

She’s been looking for help, but as you know, this government does not only fail to protect people who lack certain privileges, it actively finds ways to kick them further down, specifically Black Womxn.

So now its my turn to do something kind for her. I’m going surprise her, by raising some money (about $4,000) to get my family into a little apartment.

Its not nearly enough to replace everything that was lost in the fire, but its enough to start anew.

I want to turn her tears of sadness into tears of joy. Give her some peace in this turmoil.

One day I’m gonna buy her a big old castle, where she can rest her feet and drink as much pink cranberry juice as she wants.

...but for now baby steps. One day at a time.

This is indeed the lowest point in our lives, but I see it as an opportunity for a new beginning.

I am very much in need of your help.

Im trying to get them us out of this situation in the next 2 weeks because they need help now.

Thank you in advance. Please keep us in your prayers.
