This site has been created to help secure donations for the next reunion of the 80th Division Veteran's Association which takes place in Washington D.C., August 16-21, 2016.
Veterans from WWII, along with those that have recently fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, will be attending. For the WWII veterans, they are now in their 90s and fewer and fewer have been able to attend, either due to failing health or expenses. These men came ashore in France in 1944, fighting across Northern France, Luxembourg and Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge, into Germany, where they helped liberate the Buchenwald Concentration Camp, and ended their tour in Austria.
By the end of WWII, May 7, 1945, the 80th Division had seen 277 days of combat. It had captured 212,295 enemy soldiers. The 80th Division returned to the United States in January 1946, after spending time in Europe helping to restore and keep peace after the war. The 80th Division had been one of the stalwarts of Patton's Third Army, but it cost them dearly. During their 277 days of combat, the 80th Infantry Division had 17,087 casualties
Your donations will help these veterans experience a memorable reunion and celebration in Washington D.C., including a visit the WWII Memorial, which was constructed in 2004 in their honor. Many of the veterans in attendance have never visited the memorial. It will be a special visit for them while they are still with us.
All donations are appreciated. We are setting a goal of $10,000 to help pay for the tour (wheelchair-accessible motor coach bus, tour guide) and offset some of the reunion expenses (hotel meeting rooms, meals, etc.).
Thank you for taking the time to consider donating to the 80th Division Veteran's Association.
