Sexy Granny is a 2D/stop-motion hybrid short based on the unfinished work of Sophie Ward, a Wimbledon College of Art animation student who died suddenly at 20.

Developed from Sophie’s sketches, storyboards, and maquettes, the film is being created by her mother Alice and sister Anna, with contributions from Sophie’s friends. It is produced and co-directed by Vanessa Wheeler, who spent the past decade developing and producing animated films (Kensuke’s Kingdom, The Tiger Who Came to Tea).

Since January 2025, we’ve completed the script and animatic. We are now raising to fund advanced development and push the film into production.

We would love this film to be used as part of a campaign to raise awareness about meningitis, as well as being a positive tool to help those grieving loved ones.
