I had a friend who was in a bad spot, I said to him "please don't let your pride kill you". We helped him against his wishes. Not saying this to brag, actually just the opposite. I am just as guilty. Pride has been a foreign idea to me. I could see it on others but never myself. But I'm guilty and selfish. If it wasn't for my family my pride probably would kill me. It takes a lot to ask for help, but that's what I'm doing here. I need help. The next section was written by my sister and mom. It's something that's hard for me too admit but I have to. If you could do anything to help even a simple share on social media, I would be truly appreciative. Thank you all for a moment of your time.

Who is J
JJ is a husband, father, brother, and friend. He is the man who helped his daughter spearhead her only Christmas wish which was for Santa to feed the hungry and homeless. He is the man who fills and donates book bags to students getting ready for school. He is the man who rescued his beloved dog Oliver from the streets at 12 weeks old.
Equally, he is the man who was born with infancy epilepsy which means he has been burdened all his life with seizures. Yes, ALL his life, thirty-four years. This neurological disorder has filled his life with difficulties and sickness. And although troubled with this disorder and the humiliating side effects such as being unable to get a driver’s license, he has always worked, provided for his wife and two children, and was self-sufficient; that is until now. Hear his story below.
I am JJ
I was born with epilepsy. I have seizures. I have had them my entire life. I have had my good days and bad days. Now they come so fast, I cannot catch my breath, I can barely hold my head up. I have never ever wanted to say I could NOT do this alone, but here I am asking you to hear my plea. For me, yes, but more importantly, for my family; my beautiful wife Joi, and two young children, Kayla 9, and Robbie, 5.
Since birth I have been under doctor’s care. I am currently under the active care of the nurse’s, doctor’s, and specialists at the University of Penn, Epileptic Unit, in Philadelphia, PA. Previously, I have had (since removed) the loop recorder so they could see any irregular activities. It was removed to be replaced with the VNS Device. The VNS sends a signal to my brain every three minutes. This is to stop the seizures and provide recovery medicine. Unfortunately, I have not experienced the relief I thought I might find. Ironically, my seizures are increasing in duration and frequency at an alarming rate.
I can no longer work due to the frequency and strength of the seizures. I am literally forced to take a leave of absence from my job. I am applying for state disability unfortunately, waiting for paperwork and approvals take a lot of time. I need help maintaining my COBRA for health insurance, my medicine, and traveling expenses.
I am JJ. I need to continue being the father who helps his children and the community, to be the perfect husband and father, to work and be self-sufficient. Please help me be JJ making a difference today and every day.
