Hearts for Hannah Walker

In 2016 Hannah Walker, at the age of 13 was diagnosed with High Risk Mixed Phenotype Philadelphia+ Leukemia. She fought through an intensive chemotherapy and radiation protocol for over a year with many horrifying and painful complications.

Hannah continued fighting to recover. Though she was considered in clinical remission in 2018, she has continued to have low levels of BCR-ABL in her blood and bone marrow. Because of this, she has continually been on a TKI chemotherapy 3 years longer than expected. Despite feeling horrible, she has continued to cherish, deeply love, and live life as never before. She is a beautiful soul that has such compassion, dedication, and determination to not only personally thrive, but to help others thrive too.

In February 2021 Hannah and her family received the horrifying news that she was relapsing and would require a bone marrow transplant. Hannah is now a 17-year-old young lady having to make decisions that she should not have to even consider at this stage in life. The chemotherapy she already received, coupled with what she is about to receive will take away her choice to have children in the future. We were all baffled to learn that insurance will not cover medical fertility preservation. Therefore, they must pay 1/3 upfront, then make installment payments over 6 months. The total cost is about $20,000+/- plus yearly storage of $560. Timing is essential, she will need to begin no later than Tuesday 3/30/21.

Hannah’s 10-year-old sister, Emma, has volunteered to be the stem cell donor and will be admitted at the same time as her sister.

Hannah and Emma’s 3-year-old little brother, James, will be at home without his mom and sister for several months. They will need to hire a live-in nanny to isolate properly while providing care for James and Emma. Hannah’s treatment is long term and will require prolonged inpatient hospital stays (8-12 weeks), numerous outpatient treatments, and unknown complications resulting in emergency department visits. The cost to have a live-in nanny is approximately $30,000 for 10 months. This does not include all the nanny taxes and payroll fees.

These are just some of the financial hardships this family will face along the way. Your donation, no matter how big or small, will help not only monetarily, but emotionally and spiritually too. Prayers and kind words are always cherished and appreciated!!! Thank you for all your love, support, and inspiration.
