Over New Years weekend, Josh was involved in a life altering accident with a train. He shattered the right side of his pelvis along with some breaks on the left side, a broken ankle and 3 broken vertebrae.
He was in emergency surgery for 16 hours while they put his pelvis back together.
The recovery for this will probably be the hardest thing he will go through in his life. And it doesn’t just affect him. Our giant sweet teddy bear will not be able to walk for 3 months as he cannot put any weight on his legs whatsoever. He will be in rehab for 1-3 weeks, or even longer. Once he’s out of rehab he will have to move back home with his family and we will all pitch in to care for him as best we can.
Right now we don’t know what that looks like exactly but we know it will be an extremely difficult time. Emotionally, physically and financially.
Josh does not have insurance so he’s been speaking with a financial advisor. Bottom line is he will get the care that he needs but obviously it is still going to cost him.
He will need appropriate and comfortable furniture and other medical equipment necessary for his healing process.
If you know Josh, you know a friend. You know a helping hand. You know a comforting hug. Anyone could ask Josh for help and he’s there, no questions asked.
I can’t imagine going from being the guy that anyone could rely on for anything, Mr. Fix-It-All, the handyman of all handymen, the guy who could pick up an entire pull out couch by himself and carry it 50 feet into the house to…being completely bed ridden. it’s one of the most heartbreaking things we have ever seen.
Now is our chance to be there for him in his time of need. We can rally around him and be there for him like he has been there for us. He will fully recover and be our strong Josh again as long as we are here for him.
Any questions or messages can be sent to his sister, Mary-Grace Cooper.
We appreciate any and everything that all of you are willing to give and all of the support so far has meant the world to us. Thank you!!!!
