Viridian MAPSSS 2016

Donate Today to PROJECT MASSS - MATH APPtitude Spanish Summer Surge at Viridian.
I'm Nak Kazigo, one of the moms here at Viridian Elementary who are getting together with other Viridian parents in order to collectively educate our young ones through the summer.
The goal of Project MASSS is to give each child a roadmap to mastery of the critical math skills in the Spanish Language for the summer. Starting June 6, 2016 our rising Viridian third graders will meet once a week at the Viridian Clubhouse for a session of multiplication and division review, pizza fraction fun and pool play to keep their Spanish language skills alive through the summer.
Your donations will help provide critical equipment - (one iPad mini with keyboard per participant) and workbooks that will allow them to:
1. Electronically receive their weekly syllabus.
2. Watch the summer's series of educational videos on multiplication and fractions in Spanish on Khan Academy's website - es.khanacademy.org.
3. Sing their way to mastery of the times tables using Amazon Music's Audio Teachers MP3 - Multiplication Tables.
4. Purchase and utilize apps such as Duolingo to continue to read in Spanish and English through the summer.
5. Drill basic multiplication, fraction and division facts with Kumon Math Workbooks.
Year after year, we watch the statistics on how American children are unable to compete internationally, how their math skills summer after summer fall cyclically behind those in the developed world so that by the time they get to college, we import science and information technology talent from other countries to fill STEM slots at our top schools. We also hear of the growing digital divide - how those children with access to technology are able to learn and be more competitive in the job market.
We here at Viridian would be so appreciative of your help in building a strong community here in Arlington from the ground up. It would mean the world to us to see our kids gathered together weekly this summer, their little fingers armed with the technology to surge ahead academically and succeed in the coming academic year. To come to you next year, with plans for an even larger program, involving more even more students would mean that our community was well on its way to transforming the community standard from expecting academic summer progression from our children instead of summer regression. Join us.
Help us start what could become an annual summer drive to use technology to improve STEM and bilingual outcomes for our kids. Please donate today!
