Help Matt Fight Back
Matt is a single, 42 year old man with a passion for life and love for others. Matt is facing a serious situation.... on his routine MRI check-up for previous brain surgery it was revealed that a tumor is growing.
Currently, Matt needs an effective, yet expensive, treatment, CyberKnife, that is not fully coved by his insurance.
In October of 2013, Matt was diagnosed with a brain tumor which was quite large in size in the area of his brain where motor skill function resides. In November of 2013, a surgery was performed with the intent to fully resect or remove the tumor. The surgery identified the tumor as an Oligodendroglioma. However the surgery proved to be unsuccessful in that the Doctor was unable to remove the tumor except for a biopsy. In April of 2014, an MRI showed that the tumor was growing. After many prayers, Matt coincidentally met Neurosurgeon, Dr. Wascher and Radio Oncologist, Dr. Krueger who specializes in the CyberKnife of the brain. The CyberKnife treatment is a method of delivering radiotherapy, with the intention of targeting the treatment more accurately than standard radiotherapy.
In July of 2014, Matt received 5 treatments, each treatment was $11,000 which doesn't include hospital costs or other fees. As a result of accepting this unparalleled treatment, Matt has returned to a healthy life with few restrictions.
Three weeks ago, Matt received devastating news. An MRI showed that another brain tumor has been found near the location of the first tumor. Like before, the tumor is sitting in the part of the brain that affects Matt's motor skills, and left untreated can become life threatening. The CyberKnife treatment is imminent. However, Dr. Wascher and Dr. Krueger are no longer in Matt's insurance network.
As friends of Matt, our goal is to raise $50,000 in order to give Matt a fighting chance to survive. We need YOUR help to help Matt fight back.
