Sadaqah Jariyah- Mohamed Afrah & Maryan Hussein

إنا لله وانا اليه راجعون

Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un,

As some of you may know we have lost our beloved father Mohamed Afrah and beloved aunt Maryan Hussein, may Allah (swt) have mercy on their soul, on the 24th January and 12th February 2021. Both of these siblings were staples of our family and loved by many.

We as a family have decided we would like to start this account with the intention to raise money to build a well in both our father and aunts’ names as Sadaqah Jariyah (continuous charity).

Abu Huraira reported: “The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “When a person dies, all their deeds end except three: a continuing charity, beneficial knowledge and a righteous child who prays for him.” (Hadith, Sahih Muslim)

We would ideally like to build this water well in a neighbourhood in Somalia where they were raised, supplying the local families with clean water. 

By supplying water sources, it essentially revives communities and is considered one of the greatest acts of Sadaqah Jariyah due to its chain reaction. Clean water leads to healthier livestock, improved agriculture, healthier communities and a much more sustainable livelihood. By building a well in a community that doesn’t have easy access to this fundamental resource, our father and aunty will reap the rewards and all of us too for our efforts, in sha’ Allah.

May Allah (swt) the most merciful expand and shed nur on their graves, grant them the status of a shaheed (martyr), and endow them both with jannatul firdaus. Ameen Ya Rabbul Alameen.
