Chandler's Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Shelby. My older brother, Chandler, age 27, was in a horrific motorcycle accident. We're lucky to still have him here with us. His injuries are extensive, and recovery will be hard for him. He's a tough cookie, and his spirits are high, but his left leg was amputated below the knee, and the femur bone is broken in three places. His right leg cannot be moved at the moment, and won't be able to support any amount of weight for some time, which will postpone any chance of him learning to walk again anytime soon. His left arm and shoulder underwent quite a bit of reconstructive surgery, and somehow is ready for physical therapy already. There's a few other small complications that he's working through, but after nearly a month of surgeries, it's finally time to start recovering. Many of our friends and family have reached out asking how they can help, and all we could ask for at the time were prayers for the best outcome possible.
Chandler will be transported to a rehabilitation center here in Jacksonville any day now. He will only spend a few weeks there before he comes home to Momma's house. This money will be used for expenses to make our Mom's house wheelchair accessible. We will be adding a ramp to her porch, and remodeling her master bedroom (mostly the bathroom) to make everything accessible and as comfortable as possible for Chandler through this time. Whatever might be left from these funds will be deposited in a savings account for Chandler as returning to work is still so far off for him.
We understand that financial assistance isn't something everyone can offer, if you would like to help another way, we could use some helping hands. It's just my mom and I here, and we have 0 experience with building ramps and remodeling bathrooms. Skills, a trade, helping hands, spare time... these are things that would help a great deal as we only have a few weeks before Chan the man comes home.
Thank you so much to everyone who has brought him food, sat and visited, called to check in, and most of all thank you for the prayers through this difficult time. We are so grateful to have so many people love our family like their own. I feel I can speak for Chandler too, when I say thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
