Swiney Family Flood Relief Fund

Story

I am Susan, one of Rose's younger sisters. I feel helpless as I watch the news from my hometown. This is my sister's house this morning at 6 AM.  They have lost everything like many others in the area.  So I decided I would do something to help them. My sister and her family have been displaced by the flood waters in West Virginia.  In 1997, this same house was flooded.  But this flood is much worse.  According to the local news station it is the biggest flood since the year1888.  The entire area is devastated. Let me give you a little background on my sister.  I know I am biased... but she gives so much of herself to others.  Currently, she is helping raise her two granddaughters, as well, as a little girl who is not her blood related granddaughter.  She stepped in 8 years ago when the middle child, Sophie was burned.  Sophie has had several skin grafting procedures.  She has wililngly opened her home to these children. Her family is very important to her and no sacrifice is too much.  Currently there are 8 people living in this home.   This morning, they are on the hillside across from their home watching pieces of it float away.  Her husband and son rescued others from the area and they are helping 8 other neighbors.  There are even a couple of elderly women.  Thank God they have tarps to keep them dry.   I pray they are rescued soon.  But rescued to go where? They cannot go home. This money will be used to help them while they are displaced.  It will also help them finance the rebuilding process.  They do have some flood insurance, but not nearly enough to cover the complete loss of their home. Their cars are parked in a parking lot next door.  The cars are not lost yet, but the water hasn't crested either.  The water is up to the tires right now.  So this money may also be used to replace those cars if lost.  Any donation will be appreciated and used wisely.  My sister never asks for help so I am asking for her! Please consider giving to this family in need.
