Aid the Search for Virginia Aberle
Donation protected
Our dear sweet Virginia is presumed drowned after she went missing on a canoe/camping trip on the Mississippi River. Official search efforts by the local Sheriff's Office have been called off, however volunteers from that effort in addition to family and friends are continuing the search.
We are collecting funds to pay for food, gas and other supplies for volunteers who have come forward to help with the search. Any funds we have leftover beyond what we need for the search will be given to Virginia's family to use toward funeral costs or other expenses related to this tragedy. Some funds will be donated to the local organizations and volunteer groups who have been putting their time and resources into the search from the begining and continue to do so.
Virginia touched all who knew her. She was one of those rare individuals who always made those around her feel special. She was full of laughter and light. Hundreds of people have stepped forward to help with search efforts from near and afar, showing just how many people she touched in her tragically short life.
Virginia was an artist and organizer devoted to helping other artists have opportunities to make and exhibit work in addition to being a talented artist in her own right (Roxaboxen, Balsam, ACRE). She was also involved in activist groups devoted to educating and encouraging allyship to people of color in these trying times (Make Yourself Useful).
At this time we are searching for her body to help bring some semblance of closure to her family and friends. The more time that passes, the harder the search will become. It is important that we provide the resources we need now.
