Hello friends,
Last night Jason called me to tell me he had just gotten the call that his house was on fire, and he was headed there as fast as he could. Cathleen and I drove there to find Jason and saw that only the foundation of the house was left. At this point, they think that lightning was the cause. The Director of the Cameron Boys Camp where Jason lives and works is being very supportive and is giving Jason any time off he needs and money for extended stay hotel if he prefers.
Jason headed out this morning to the post office to see about getting a new passport. He is slated to leave for his Ethiopia trip on July 7. I spoke with him about rush service, as well as driving to DC to get it as possibilities.
Also, Jason was housesitting a dog for a couple that works at camp. The dog was in the house, and I was on the phone with Jason when he made that realization. He also had a roommate who was out of town. Pray for the couple that owns the dog and for his roommate, who are finding out today about their losses.
As far as what he lost, Jason said that everything he owned was in the house. If you know Jason, you know he doesn't care as much about things, but he treasures what he has that is personal - letters from family, photos, and items from some of his travels - basically the things he can't replace. At the camp they do have storehouses of some basic goods, but right now he's not focused as much on totally replenishing. He's still processing and trying to figure out the passport piece. I told him that when he does start thinking about getting what he needs to live, there are plenty who want to help him, and I encouraged him to receive that as a part of what the body of Christ does.
We have set up this gofundme account as a way for us to easily and quickly gather the finances to help support Jason as he moves to a new home and prepares to go serve the Lord in Ethiopia on July 7th. Please give as you feel led, but we ask primarily that you pray for Jason as He trusts the Lord for his next steps.
