Help Us Honor Our Mom, Bev Miller.
Donation protected
Hi everybody! This is Bev's son Rick. While my brother, sister and I don't normally like to do this, we are asking for your help in honoring our mother with a proper service. Unfortunately, our mom never had much of a savings account, pension, retirement plan or any life insurance. We have gotten a decent start on our own, but we are still a long ways away from being where we need to be. Anything left over will be donated to the Alzheimer's Association and honor of our mother.
For those of you who don't know our mom or don't know her very well, please let me tell you about her.
Beverly Miller was born on March 25, 1942 and was raised on Crescent St in Melrose, MA right behind the old Lincoln School. She was the 2nd oldest of 4 kids, Valarie, Beverly, Susan & Gardner. On 12/20/1967, Norman, her first born arrived. In 1969, she married our father, Richard Miller, Sr. On 7/8/1970, her 2nd child and first daughter, Susan, was born. On 9/17/1973, her 3rd and last child, Richard, arrived.
Our mom spent alot of time in the transportation industry, driving mentally challanged adults to/from work for Safety Trans, selling tickets for Peter Pan Bus Lines, courier/delivery driver for First Call Courier, phone operator for Bay State Taxi, and finally a phone operator/dispatcher and driver for First Call Transportation. She finally retired 5 years ago.
We had suspected for quite some time that our mother had Alzheimer's, but she tried her best to hide it and also claimed that it was a lack of vitamin B12 and told us to stop worrying. Shortly after her retirement, I met with her primary care physician and confirmed what we had feared for some time. Shortly after that is when she moved in with Michelle, Mikayla and I. After several months, she required more care than we could provide, so in March of 2012 she moved into the Greenwood Nursing Home in Wakefield, where she has beed cared for since.
During her life, she always wanted to include everyone and never liked to do things alone. During our annual trips (apple picking, Topsfield Fair, The Big "E", Canobie Lake Park, Kingston State Park, vacations at Aunt Val's), she would always invite everyone to come with us and always made sure they had transportation to get there and back, even if that meant she had to drive them, which happened more often than not.
While we didn't have a lot growing up, she always made sure we had what we needed, even if that meant working 2 jobs along with our father working full time and being in the Army National Guard.
She has always had a great sense of humor and always tried to make everyone laugh, including the time she suprised me as a belly dancer at one of my birthday parties.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and we appreciate anything you can do, including your thoughts and prayers. Thank you again and God Bless!!!
