Hello everyone!
My husband and I rescued Hadi in 2016 from our local shelter. We knew she had medical issues, but had no idea how severe. She was heavily infected with heartworms, has bad hips and severe allergies. To top it all off, she has no usable front teeth.
Although it took four years and many treatments, she is now officially heartworm free!!!
The people who “owned” her before us abused her. According to our vet, she was hit by a vehicle at some point and never given any medical attention, which is why her hips are misaligned and she is in constant pain. Thankfully, we have been able to get her on a pain management plan and she is doing much better!!
Unfortunately, for every one issue we fix, another pops up. Recently Hadi ended up with an abscess at the root of one of her “nub” teeth in the front. Even with antibiotics, stitching it up and pain medication it has not closed up. The veterinarian recommends us removing all of her remaining “nub” teeth (10+ teeth) and finally ridding her of the pain induced by her previous owners’ abuse. The vet suspect that those teeth were all worn down by chewing on rocks because of her not being fed regularly or well.
We normally use CareCredit to take care of situations like this, but it has become too much with recent emergency bills from Hadi’s abscess and an accident where she was scared by a storm and ripped one of her toenails completely out.
