No one wants to hear that a fellow paddler is grounded from the water and in trouble - and definitely not because of serious health concerns.
But that's exactly what is happening to one of our visitor paddlers and my dear friend Rose Petrie.
Rose loves visitor paddle, sharing the Hawaiian Culture and raising money for our na'opio program benefitting privileged + underprivileged youth from 8-15 years old. We've seen her on the beach and in the canoes with her husband James ( one of our steersman) - but no more.
The Petries have been grounded by Rose's serious, acute heart condition and it has halted their other charity work as well - feeding the hungry 365 days/year at the Hale Kau Kau program in Kihei, HI.
Rose has a severe aortic stenosis (thickening and narrowing of her aortic valve) she needs immediate valve replacement surgery - but even more immediate she needs catheterization with dye injection to assess severity and pinpoint the surgical site.
Insurance complications $$$ have halted the progress the doctors have begun. She needs your help to restart these procedures vital to her life.
