Hi everyone! I hope you all are well!

Well, I have reached the 5 year marker since my final round of chemo!  I am very grateful to have had such a caring family and church family to help me through it, especially while Paul was out of town.  Although the months of seemingly never-ending stomach pain and body aches was difficult, I was blessed to have so many people taking time out to visit with me, bring me to doctor’s appointments, and cook for my children and me.  I thank God for allowing me to get through it with so much support and to be over the cancer.

Thinking back toward the end of the treatments, my stomach pain was pretty much unbearable, and I remember praying, “I don’t care if I’m bald the rest of my life, just please don’t make this stomach pain permanent!”  Well, I guess this is a perfect example of, “You had better be careful what you pray for”, because although I’m not completely bald, I’m pretty close to it!  Lol.  I remember being extremely excited when my hair finally grew long enough to where I could put it in a ponytail at least so it didn’t look as much like a Barbie doll with tufts of hair missing.  Once again, I do not in any way want to sound ungrateful for what I got in exchange, referring to my life and no permanent stomach pain.  However, I must admit I have been hoping that maybe some more hair would have grown back by now.

I often get embarrassed by how my hair looks. I know I could wear a wig, but wigs are extremely hot, itchy, and uncomfortable.  With us owning a lawn care company and having to spend much time outside, in addition to having to go to Austin’s multiple ball games, it is impossible to wear a wig in the hot sun.  It doesn't bother me as much at church since church is like family, but other places it does.

I bring this up to present a small request.  I have been going back and forth in my mind for about 7 months now with asking this, as I know there are people at our own church who could use money for serious health reasons. However, I have had several people at church come up to me offering to help with my hair in one way or another and one day I saw a commercial for Hair Club for Women. I looked into it and found out that I could get a “fake scalp” with real hair on it fused to my head.  It would be and feel just like real hair, and the best part is it would cost just under $3,000.  Regardless of it costing way less than I thought it would, however, it is still beyond anything that we could afford.  Any time we get ahead, it seems like one of our pieces of equipment for our business breaks down, or we need new tires for the trucks and/or lawn trailer, or we need to buy a new piece of equipment, leaving us with no money for luxury items like "hair".

My request is that if you are in any way willing to help contribute to paying for this, it would mean a lot to me.  Like I said, I am a bit self-conscious in even asking given the triviality of it in comparison to those with health issues.  And I ask that if you are in a position where you are choosing between me and someone who needs the money for their health, PLEASE choose them.  But if you do have some extra money that you are willing to contribute, I would be very grateful.

I know that God has given me life when it could have gone the other way around, and if I don’t get enough money to cover the cost of the hair, then I will know that it was not God’s will, and I will accept that graciously.  More than anything I am grateful for my life and to be able to be here to raise my children.  Whatever God’s will, I will accept it.

Thank you for listening.  I love you all and thank you once again for all your support while going through the rough times.
