As many of you have seen, severe and unprecedented flooding has ravaged the state of West Virginia. This has turned many people's world upside-down including someone I call a friend and colleague. Kelly Shumate is the Director of Agronomy at The Greenbrier Resort. Many of the agronomy team members on his staff have had severe damage to their homes or have lost most everything. This team of individuals, like many of us, is tasked with preparing a golf venue for the world's greatest players. In turn, the tournament is able to raise large sums of money for charitable causes in the area. Obviously a golf tournament is of the lowest priority at this time. Priority should be helping our colleagues restore their lives. There is no doubt that many selfless acts will occur over the coming days and weeks. The purpose of this campaign is to raise funds to help the flood victims begin to get back to some state of normalcy. That may be providing food and water, small supplies to restore comfort to their families, or for them to help out other victims in the area. Please find generosity in your heart and give to these folks who so desperately need your help.
