Brian T. Ainge's Stroke Recovery

It’s been almost 2 years since my brother, Brian (aka Taylor to many of you), suffered a massive stroke on the left side of his brain. A clot had obstructed the flow of blood to his brain, starving his brain of vital oxygen. The result left my previously healthy and active brother unable to move the right side of his body. In addition, his speech was impaired. We were heartbroken, but so thankful that Brian pulled through.

 From the moment I first visited him in the hospital I knew one thing: if anybody could overcome this obstacle it would be Brian. Brian is one of the most determined and driven men I know. I watched as he has worked day and night with a team of therapists (physical, occupational, & speech), fighting to regain his movement and speech and re-emerge as the guy we all know and love.

Brian’s entire world has been turned upside down. His wife, Jen, has started working again to support Brian and their 2 children – Siena (11) & Lance (10), not to mention their energetic dog, Manny! However, after many months in intensive care and countless hours of physical therapy, expenses have climbed.

I have decided to take on the biggest challenge of my life to show my brother just how much he means to me. On October 9th I will be running the Chicago Marathon (26.2 brutal miles) to honor my brother. 

I am asking you to consider making a donation that will help Brian, Jen, Siena, and Lance offset the costs of ongoing medical expenses.  A portion of any funds I am able to raise will also be donated to the American Stroke foundation.
