In April I thought I may have had pink eye- as it was going around my children’s preschool. Long story short, that “eye infection” turned into a double ear infection. With the loss of vision, hearing and balance, I also noticed I could not move left arm or hand. After being blown off by several doctors, an MRI was done and it revealed that I had 8 brain lesions. And as some of you may know, I was diagnosed with MS on the first day of my fourth semester in nursing school. I spent 5 days in the hospital getting steroid infusions, a lumbar puncture and more MRI’s. I have twin five year old boys at home and haven’t given up on nursing school- although it feels pretty impossible right now- not only because of the pain and fatigue- but also because of trying to keep up with doctor’s appointments, as well as physical and occupational therapy appointments. When I began showing symptoms of MS I lost most of my vision, and my ability to move the left side of my body. With therapy I am getting some function back, but it takes me about ten times longer than normal to get anything done. In addition to my crazy schedule, constant fatigue and unbearable, unrelenting pain, my husband moved away for a new job about a week after my diagnosis. This job will hopefully put us in a better financial situation soon- when I finish school, but currently it is pretty expensive to live in two separate states. There are things that I need, that would make my life so much easier if I could afford them- including copays for medical appointments, over the counter medicines and medical supplies . I also desperately need help getting my dog washed and taken to the vet ,keeping up with my yard, as there is no way for me to mow it or afford to pay someone to, and also to pay for babysitting on days my family cannot watch the boys and I have to study for a test or do charting,. These may see like small things, but they are huge to me. I appreciate anything you are able to give. I also covet your prayers! I know my God makes no mistakes and trust that He will provide for me and my family, and that He has a reason for all of this happening at one time.
