Hi, my name is Deb. Some of you may know me, and some of you may not, so let me tell you a little bit about myself.
I'm a Nebraska Girl, born and raised - GO HUSKERS!
I moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1978 and now consider myself a True New Mexican Transplant!
I am currently the mother to three wonderful felines: Sidney, Rusty and beautiful Violet. My cats and I are a great team. I provide unconditional love, food and shelter, and they provide disdain, obstinance, and fur on my clothes. But I love them dearly, even though it's like living with teenagers forever!
I am a Court Reporter. Some of you may know what that is, and some of you may not, so let me explain. A Court Reporter records everything that is being said, in both Court and in Depositions, using a steno machine. When I connect my steno machine to a computer, I am even able to provide Closed Captioning for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing. This is a very rewarding career and I have enjoyed every minute of my 40 plus years in the business. In fact, my Court Reporting Graduating Class at Brown Mackie College in Salina, KS, recently held their 42nd Reunion ... which unfortunately I was unable to attend because of my current heart condition.
So, now to the reason for this GoFundMe Message.
Five years ago, I had open heart surgery and received six - yes, six - bypasses. At the time, I thought that would take care of everything. But, alas, I was wrong.
In July of this year, 2016, I am scheduled for another open heart surgery. The plan is to repair my mitral valve, which is only allowing my heart to work at 30% capacity, as well as address my atrial fibrillation, as well as a couple of other things that, quite honestly, are too complicated to explain here.
My symptoms started almost a year ago, and so my ability to work has been decreasing steadily. And if you know anything about Court Reporters, you know that if we don't work, we don't get paid.
So here is where I need your assistance. I am asking for your help to get through the next six months, which will include my surgery and recovery time. I will have no form of steady income during this period. My goal at the end of these six months is to be back on my feet and using my flying fingers again!
