The Chittar's bereavement fund

Donation protected
On behalf of our dear friends, Harry, Amanda and their beloved son Apollo Chittar, we are heading up this gofundme account. The intent is to help ease any financial hardship they have and may incur in recent tragic events so that they may focus on the matters of the heart, time with their son, and healing.

In a time that an overabundance of joy was to be expected, it has turned into the darkest times of their lives instead. Harry and Amanda have shown so much strength in this time, and so has Apollo. It is difficult to know that our friends won't be returning home with their baby, and that is heartbreaking. We are proud and overjoyed in their capability to be an inspiration to their friends, family, and the medical staff that has been in charge of their care. Apollo has already changed many lives in his short time, and there is no doubt that he will imprint on many more.

In support of Harry and Amanda, we ask that you give what you are able. If unable to provide with financial help, please offer prayer, positive energy, and whatever is in your means and ability to give.

Harry and Amanda have chosen to share with the tribe their experience and intent for the future of their son. This is expressed below:

On June 11th 2016 at 10:02, we were gifted with our gorgeous baby boy, Apollo Bodhithamara Chittar.
3 hours into his life he stopped breathing and suffered a hypoxic event.

The Doctors on-site at Northwest Hospital were able to resuscitate him, however the damage was done.  This was catastrophic to his neurological function...

He was rushed to a level 4 NICU at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.  He underwent cold cap therapy for 72 hours, which is a promising treatment for such a situation.  After an MRI & EEG analysis in conjunction with a physical examination, doctors declared that he will not recover and that there is no discernable treatment as the effects are irreversable. This means he will never be able to speak, to open his eyes, to walk, to talk, to feed himself etc. His quality of life would be abysmal.

In accordance with our views and ethics, we have been given the gravest of duties:
To return our son to God.

As a insult against Death we have chosen to donate Apollo's heart valves, so that maybe one (or two) of the 2300 little kids waiting for prayers to be answered can have a chance at a real life. Some of his other organs will be donated to facilities around the country and will serve as groundbreaking research on infant medicine.

His legacy will be that of a savior.

We ask at this time for your financial support.  Any donations will be used for cremation, services, living expenses during time of bereavement, unforeseen medical expenses not covered by our insurance, and lastly travel and accommodation expenses.  This will enable us to take his ashes to India so that we may bathe with our son in the Holy Ganges River....as we had intended to in life.
