On February 6th my grandfather was admitted to Centinela Hospital with his sugar levels over 600 and he was having difficulty breathing. This was due to COVID but sadly nobody knew he had it. The next day at 5am they intubated him because he couldn’t breathe on his own anymore. We were told days later that he had two types of pneumonia & then we were told he had COVID. He was in critical condition, there were days where he was stable and days where he was not. When we found out our grandfather had Covid we took my grandmother to get tested and she had came out positive with no symptoms.. she isolated her self and followed Covid safety regulations. Thanks to God and all prayers she came out negative after all. Our grandfather fought hard for his life to come back home to us. There were times when we were called from the hospital to give our goodbyes because they assumed it would be his last day. Hours would pass by and somehow he would always be stable. Prayers done within family, friends, and people we hardly even knew were heard until the very end. We highly appreciate every prayer and everyone who would call and ask about our grandfather. Everything we feel right now is so surreal. We cannot accept the fact that he is no longer with us. He recently passed away this Monday (3/08/21). This has been extremely devastating to all of our family including my grandfathers friends. My grandfather was a loving man, he was always energetic and always happy. Always helping others in need. Our pastor went in 2 hours before he passed away to make prayer and hope for the best. While the pastor was giving him his blessing we were on video call during this moment. Two hours later we were called that his heart stopped and didn’t have enough oxygen to continue. His lungs were messed up from being connected to machine and pneumonia. Days before he died Covid and pneumonia had faded away but like we all know Covid left aftermath effects like séquelas. Only god & him know why things happened the way they happened but we got to the point on accepting the fact that he was in pain and suffering. Although being sedative throughout this whole month fighting for his life but suffering, he is now resting in peace with no pain. We never expected to have gone through all this during these times. Nor do we wish for another family to go through such a hard lost. We live in times of Covid... a horrible pandemic that has occurred and had left many of us around the world in difficult economic situations. It’s been really hard for the whole family and having to do this whole funeral process in such little time.. our grandfather is only allowed to be in the hospital morgue 7 days.. 7 days to figure out on gathering money to transfer him to a mortuary. So this is why we made this GoFundMe account so we can raise as much as we can that will help us give our grandfather the funeral that he deserves. Funeral services are over 20,000 and majority is up front cash. Our goal is honestly anything at this point that we can reach. We highly appreciate any voluntarily donation from your heart that wishes to give.
