Fighting Cancer #HuttonStrong

Hello everyone,
My names Chad. In January I was in the hospitalized for some pain in my lower abdomen. Turns out I had a small hole hole in my colon that got infected and then turned into colitis.

That problem has healed but while testing they found another. There was some lacerations on my liver. After a full chest CT scan showing multiple lacerations the docs wanted to do a biopsy of the liver to make sure it was cancerous. Results would take 7-10 business days. Christal and I stayed positive, my thoughts ran wild for hours on end, there’s no way I have cancer, I’m too young and healthy, this can’t happen to me, I just married in October, I’m 34, etc. Many restless nights.

Well on Feb. 2nd at 8:30 I got a call while on the job. The phone I’ve been waiting for to hear the doctor say “you’re fine!”  Only it wasn’t that, he told me straight “Chad, we got the results this morning. They came back positive for cancer that Metastasis from the colon which makes it stage 4.” As I heard this I found myself sitting on the floor of a home I was building. Numb. We finished our phone call and I packed up and left to head to another home.

I tend to not show my feeling so I bottled it up and moved on. I had a job to finish. While on the next job I finally broke down. I’ll spare you the details.

Then I had to make the hardest phone call I’d ever make. I pondered for 45min if I should. I called my wife and told her. Kept it short, told her how much I loved her, and everything is going to be okay.

Chemotherapy started on the 18th of February. I’ll be getting 12 treatments, 1 every other week.

We have a tremendous support from Family, Friends, and Work.

Medical bills rack up quick. I hate asking for help but we are selling bands for $5 and T-shirt’s for $30. Any donation is greatly appreciated but Christal and I. All donation goes towards medical bills.

We have no doubt that we will beat this. Anyone who knows me knows you can’t get me down and I stay positive. Thank you for everything.
