Just four weeks ago, Beauregard excitedly packed into my Jeep with me and what was left of our worldly possessions for the long 1,600 mile trek to the Golden Coast, unsure of what our adventure had in store for us. We came to California together eager to live a life full of the unknown.
Last week, the 3rd week of June, Beauregard suddenly stopped wanting to eat, he didn’t want to be at the beach (swimming is his favorite activity in the world… besides eating) and he just stopped being the joyful and goofy dog we all know him to be. Then, Beauregard showed me it was time to see the doctor when he could no longer get around the house on his own.
Dr. Van Mil and the medical team at San Diego Bay Animal Hospital took x-rays and blood panels and quickly gave me the news of how sick my poor baby actually is. Beau’s pancreas, liver and gallbladder are in an alliance against him as they are distended, non-functional and producing enzymes faster than he can process, causing them to dump into his abdomen. The emergency doctors at Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of East County have explained the surgical procedure and fluid therapy required to help Beau fight this illness. Without them, he will stay in pain until he can no longer go on. I have exhausted every effort possible to keep him comfortable, but the vet bills have long exceeded the funds I have and we are running out of options.
Beauregard and I are a team. I cannot fulfill this grand adventure without my best friend by my side. I need him, and he needs me – we are all each other have out in this big city away from home. So please, if you can donate, you would be saving not only Beauregard, but you’d be saving me too.
