A Nurse In Need After Covid Illness

Donation protected
Hi everyone.  This is the last thing I was expecting to do because by this point, I planned on being back to work.  I am a nurse and was working on the front lines of the Coronavirus pandemic, when in the beginning of December 2020, i was diagnosed with the disease.   It was rough in the beginning but took a turn for the worse and I was admitted to the hospital in respiratory distress and diagnosed with covid pneumonia.  Shortly after, my brother and mother both fell ill and were hospitalized as well.  Unlike them, I spent 51 days in the hospital: 29 of them in the ICU and 8 days intubated and a stay in a rehabilitation hospital.

I had to learn to talk, walk, eat and basically take care of myself all over again.   While I have been discharged home, I am still on oxygen and use a walker to get around because one foot is completely numb and I have neuropathy pain; not to mention i get tired very easy.

My doctor now projects it will be another 3 to 6 months before I can be back to a functional baseline.

This means what I had saved was quickly depleted and now I am facing the onslaught of follow up doctors appointments and continued physical therapy.

I know that times are rough for us all and I have fought putting this out; but others have told me to put my pride to the side for my kids. Us nurses can be the worst patients sometimes  lol.

Whatever you are able to help with, we will be greatful.  If you are not able to give at this time, please share so that other might see.

Thank you,
