Shawn Luttman

On Tuesday, June 21st, 2016 our very good friend, Shawn Luttman, was involved in a terrible accident while enjoying an afternoon ride on his motorcycle. Shawn collided with a pick-up truck head on and suffered tremendous life-threatening injuries. He has broken bones in his left arm, a broken jaw, a broken back, a split pelvis, and because of extreme trauma to vascular tissue - all the way from his upper abdomen down into his left leg - surgeons have had to amputate that leg just above his knee... Shawn' s injuries were also complicated because of extreme blood loss - close to two thirds of what people normally have in their body. Anyone else would have probably succumbed to this amount of damage. Not Shawn. He's a fighter. People who know him know that. Shawn is tough as nails and a lot more. He takes on challenges and beats them. He is indomitable. He is also full of love, compassion, kindness, and generosity. Always there to help a friend or family member, even total strangers. Shawn would literally give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Always ready to lend a hand, give words of encouragement, or to simply listen. His family knows all of this, but so do his friends and co-workers. Those of us who are friends with him don't consider him merely just "a friend". He is our brother. He jokes with us, laughs with us, cries with us. He shares with us and he helps us. He never expects anything from us but is willing to give anything to us. Most importantly though, he genuinely loves us. He shows it in how he treats us. That is why we love him and that is why we ask that you help, however you can.
Shawn has a very long road to recovery ahead of him. It is filled with multiple surgeries, immense difficulties, and seemingly endless days full of pain. But, if anyone is capable of making it through this, Shawn is at the top of the list.
