Hello Friends, Family, and Supporters of Jocelyn and Jordan,
My name is Lisa Macdonald and I have been lucky enough to work with and befriended these two amazing people over the last couple of years while they lived in the Bay Area.
Jocelyn and Jordan are tireless advocates for children, particularly those whose voices are underrepresented. As a Special Education Teacher and School Psychologist this couple have helped countless Oakland and Berkeley students grow, learn, and excel. They are passionate, selfless, loving human beings who truly light up all of our lives.
In keeping with their bottomless kindness the couple recently decided to move back to Jocelyn's home town in Southern California to help support family. Their Bay Area community has found it impossibly hard to lose them but we are also so proud and in awe of their courage.
On the night before they were slated to head off to their new life the unthinkable happened. Thieves stole their 15ft rental truck filled, with as Jordan put it, "4/5ths of their stuff." All of Jocelyn's personal and professional wardrobe, family photos, wedding gifts and mementos, furniture, important documents, and an unimaginable host of other personal items. It was an unthinkably cruel theft.
Due to the resettlement both are currently looking to find work down south. The missing clothing, documents, and general chaos created by this event are making even the smallest of steps forward very steep. As if the theft wasn't enough, the cost of repairing the collateral damage it has created is quickly mounting. There is the immediate need to replace basics like socks, shoes, and personal care items. They also had to rent a 2nd truck to move their remaining few items at a high last minute price.
If you're like me, knowing something such as this has happened to two truly good and selfless people is so frustrating. This is how you can help. While money can never replace their treasured heirlooms, photos, and personal items, it will help ease the immediate stress of this incredibly trying time. Any amount would help and please spread the word. All of the funds raised will go directly to Jocelyn and Jordan.
Thank you so much for your support of these two very special people.
