Katie’s Cause - A Fight Against Cancer

 

 

As many of you have heard, our dear Katie Swan (Kosciesza) was diagnosed with a rare, and aggressive, form of breast cancer called Triple-negative Breast Cancer (or TNBC).  Only 10-15% of all breast cancers are Triple-negative and it tends to be more common in younger women. 

The treatment plan for TNBC includes a double mastectomy, radiation, and chemotherapy - possibly more. As we await these details from Katie’s team of doctors, the one thing we know is that she will have to temporarily reduce her salon hours while she undergoes treatment and focuses on a cure.

 

Those of you who know Katie know:

 

Katie has worked tirelessly to build up her business and has established a clientele that has become an extension of her family. A color master and style expert, she has made her way into the hearts of so many who sit in her chair at her salon. When COVID-19 forced her to temporarily close her doors, Katie was devastated that she couldn’t be there for clients. She wanted nothing more than to get back to work and continue the conversations from the last appointment, see pictures of your families and pets, and to hear the hilarious stories of how we tried to manage our hair without her! This time things are a little different. Katie has asked me to share how much she appreciates your business, friendship, and love over the years. She also understands people may need to make other arrangements while she temporarily reduces availability at the salon. 

 

Katie also wants you to know how much she appreciates the outpouring of love and support you have shown her as she shared her unfortunate news. 

 

Asking for help can be difficult and it is not in Katie’s nature to ask a favor of anyone. That is why we are creating this GoFundMe page for the Swan Family. Through your kind and considerate hearts, we can help offset the cost of her medical expenses and support this amazing family. With the money raised, we can hope to reduce her stress and help her focus on her health and beating this terrible disease.
