Dear Family & Friends,
We have some big news to share. The time has come for us to end our ministry in Ireland and move back to the US. It has been the hardest decision we’ve ever made, and one that we have been praying about and seeking counsel about for several months.
We have been living in Ireland serving as Calvary Chapel missionaries since August 2015. Nate has been the director of Calvary Chapel Bible College Ireland for 3.5 years, assistant pastor at Calvary Waterford Christian Church, Youth Group leader for the past year, among serving on the worship team, hospitality, and kids ministry. Abby has focused her energy in the home as a wife and mother, but she has also served in kids ministry, co-managed a Parent & Toddler group, and taught classes at the Bible College.
Having suffered from postpartum depression, anxiety, and anger after the birth of Rowan, we are more aware of the warning signs. These things began to appear during Abby's pregnancy and are continuing. We have always said that our family comes before ministry, and we have taken her mental health to the Lord in very serious prayer.
We have reached the decision that the best thing for Abby and our family as a whole is to be near the support of our family during this time of raising young children, and to receive professional counseling to get her on track to better mental health. We know God has great things in store for our future, and healing is a big part of that process.
Abby, Penny and Saoirse will be arriving in California in July. We can’t thank everyone enough who we have already shared this news with - everyone has been extremely supportive and understanding. This has been very encouraging for us both, as this wasn’t an easy decision to make. We have peace knowing that this is what God has led us to. We hope and pray that we can always be involved in what God is doing in Ireland, even from a distance, but for now this is the best thing for our family.
With this news comes a lot of prayer requests. We have a few very urgent needs. Please join us in lifting these needs in prayer - and if you can help us meet any of these needs or know anyone who can, please get in touch with us! Our most immediate needs are:
Plane Tickets: $2000
Moving Costs: $1000
Thank you so much to everyone who has already given - we have been able to purchase plane tickets for Abby, Penny, and Saoirse. Nate and Rowan will be following a few weeks later once we raise enough funds to purchase their tickets.
Please prayerfully consider giving to help us come home - every little bit adds up to help us to return and in the transition period.
