On June 6th, we took Laura to the emergency room with chest pains. What we found out is not a heart condition, rather it was Leukemia. We were completely shocked. It was officially diagnosed June 7th. On June 8th, the judge signed over custody of my daughters to us. We now have legal custody of my 12 and 14 year old. What was to be one of the happiest moments had turned tragic. She has AML that was brought on by MDS and will require another extensive stay at another hospital. We are currently at our home hospital until at least July 13th. At that time, we will likely end up at Barnes in STL. I am unemployed and due to start a new job on August 1st. She is an accountant who is now out of a paycheck in about 2 weeks. She has a 20 years old autistic son as well. He is staying with his dad who has been very supportive through this. I need help paying our bills at home until she can get home and back to work. I am doing good what I can with groceries and feeding my kids and trying to keep them from having the worst summer of their lives. The hospital is working with us to try and qualify for Medicaid but the general house bills are coming due and we ate almost out of money. I am begging for a little help and this is the last possible thing I wanted to do. I feel helpless by even asking but I know there are some amazingly generous people left into this world. I have many years of volunteer experience for people with mental illness and now I am asking for it.  Laura is a member of the USTA as a 3.5 player and has won 3 sectional titles in just 5 years of play. She is also an avid softball player.   She has had the rug drug out from underneath her at 47 years of age.
