London Half Marathon

On the 4th December 2022, we sadly lost my Nan who fought a long battle with Alzheimer’s. My childhood memories, amongst the fun and laughs, consist of reminding my Nan where her glasses are, what day of the week it is, and what she’s doing tomorrow. She spent her final 3 years living at home being cared for by my mum, but unfortunately had a fall which led to her being admitted into hospital, and then spent her last few months in a care home in Worthing.

My Nan was the most loving, caring and gentle person until the dementia caused her entire personality to change where we didn’t recognise her anymore, and she hardly recognised us.

Watching Alzheimer’s take my Nan away from me was one of the worst things that has ever happened to me, but seeing the effects it had on my mum as a sole carer is something I never want to remember. I’m running the London Half Marathon to raise money for research, and to support those caring for loved ones with this cruel disease.

Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
More information about Alzheimer's Society: At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research. One in three people born in the UK today will develop dementia in their lifetime. We don’t want anyone to face the realities of dementia alone. That’s why your support is vital.
